Default Questions... steering buttons, radio, & interior

Okay here goes since I got the car my cruise has not worked I have no lights for the set or mode buttons but the cruise on/off works and the seek works well it lights up so I assume would if I had a radio that hooked up. Could the buttons need replacing?? If so how do you do that? Do they just pop off or are there connectors I'm missing?? I have not had my dad test the module yet but, he has the tool no biggy.

Okay as for the radio the original aftermarket radio was placed by the previous owner which didn't work when I bought it and speakers were direct wired due to either the kid spliced the main wires somewhere or they are not hooked into the main plug. So my question is can I possibly fix this to where I don't have to direct wire without having to completely replace the main wire harness? Another question typically where does the hot wire come from like which side does it go out the firewall? Asking because my hot wire is brittle and I'm unsure if it is more of the boys engineering or if it actually is the one hooked into the main harness. I have not disassembled enough to check as I've been busy and the radio can wait. Anyways I had fixed the issue with the radio not working but, my aftermarket warning didn't work properly I am unsure if it was just not hooked up right. I was playing with the EQ and needless to say I have to check the radio's fuse but something shut off and again no radio. My security light stays on as well and when I do have the radio hooked up it resets every time the car is shut off. I'm not sure if my husband actually hooked up the constant however since my issue mainly was just getting it to work at all.. I am just really debating on buying a new radio, amp, and speakers then taking to the local audio place and let them rewire it cause this has got to be the 4th time in the past month I've taken that stupid dash apart LOL.

Now as far as interior has anyone had their monte reupholstered recently instead of getting donor seats?? What damage am I possibly looking at?? I'm asking because I like the pace car look of the pewter but, I want tan instead of the grey. So I'm thinking about just getting the seats reupholstered the drivers seat is horrible. If reupholstering isn't an option anyone got a peg on pewter pace car interior for sale and what kinda price am I looking at? Finding Monte's in the salvage yard here is pretty rare I was lucky that the one I found to get parts off of came into an uncle's brother-in-law's lot.

Monte Gal...

As far as the electrical issues...
I'm no expert..It sounds to me like someone did some serious hack work on it... Generally from others having similar security issues all resolved it thru the stock radio... It sounds like that's not possible for yours... But there are members here that are very knowledgeable with electrical issues... Im guessing that you are still going to go with an aftermarket system...

I am still using the stock radio but using after market speakers subs and amplifiers... I used a company called Mickey Shores to purchase and install all the components ... I was fortunate in the fact that MTX was there with a demo vehicle..and they actually installed and tuned the system to my stock radio... So I would possibly consider taking it to a reputable audio shop to have it installed .

I like that you wish to change out the interior vs having it reupholstered I'm sure that will get a bit pricey... There was a member here who recently re did her interior as well.

Heres a link to her garage: Her name is Lisa (Monteliscious)
I believe she switched hers out from Tan to Black and red...
Maybe..if she still has it you 2 could workout a deal?

Thanks for replying. I have about decided on just taking it to Audio Specialist after i get the new items because I can get them through Walmart.com or Ebay for half the price they charge for just the items the install fee is only $65. I am not doing the factory stereo as I don't have the one that came in the car and I would have to take another and have it reprogrammed to even work and I can deal with the security light if I have to no big deal.

As far as the interior I go this week to get a quote on the window tint replacement and the seat upholstery. My drivers seat is the only thing that really needs it but I'm probably going to have tan inserts put into the seats. If I can do this for under 300 which he said is likely(this guy has tinted our windows for years and does great work on upholstery.) However if I could find a tan set like Montelicious' I would settle for now and do that until I decided I was tired of it and wanted the other reupholstered LOL. I'd pay up to 450 for a tan replacement set with SS headrests I know that sounds cheap but I can find the stock black replacement sets all day long for 300 online. My donor car has tan seats but, only 1 power seat so thats out.

That sounds like you have a solid plan in place. Have you possibly tried PMing Lisa thru the forum to see if in fact she still has her old interior?

Please keep us posted on your Progress.
Don't forget to post some pics of before and after if possible..

Were here to help..
Thanks for the heads up..
Good Luck with the transformation.

Nope haven't PM'd but, I'm not in the position at this moment to get the interior right now so I feel no need in asking until I am in the position to buy if they are willing to sell. I am a business woman and I hate to have my time wasted with questions from ones not serious in the moment they inquire.
