Default Question about LS4 Camshaft and

Good Morning Everyone, could I get some suggestions on what manufacturer to us for a new Camshaft and Intake Manifold on my 2007 Monte Carlo SS with the LS4?

Thank you in advance, I appreciate any feedback.

Are you looking for suggestions on the actual item or just the manufacturer?

For cam, its just a regular LS in that aspect. Any major LS cam manufacturer will work just fine here. Texas Speed offered a FWD specific grind for awhile, but I think they've since discontinued it. I don't think they make the cores, but they do grind in house now. Comp Cams (along with the other companies under their umbrella) and Cam Motion are two other big ones as well. Id imagine those 3 companies cover the vast majority of LS4 swaps I've seen, but there are certainly others if needed.

For the intake - Id stick with GM personally. No doubt there are some really good aftermarket intakes for LS engines these days, but the LS4s aren't making the power (needing the airflow) of their bigger cousins, so Id be hesitant to spend big money on an aftermarket one. You also run the risk of needing more modification to work (as no one sells a bolt on LS4 intake) getting into intakes that haven't been tried before.

IMO stock LS2 (or even better, professionally ported - there are places that can get them in the ballpark of the original fast 90s for flow) is the best intake in terms of low price and least mods to fit. LS6 is probably the next most popular behind it. There are certainly several options that can work though.

Two other general notes as Im not sure how familiar you are with this platform:
-the stock transmission is a time bomb - especially if you're adding power / racing it. If you havent already, Id be saving up for a triple edge build along with this work.
-Not sure what your budget is, but Id at least consider a turbo kit instead depending how far you want to go with power. Turbo 5.3s are a gold standard of the LS world and will make tons more power for not a lot more money up front (plus a much easier install).
