Unhappy problem when ac is on

ok i have been hereing some clicking in my dash where the blower is. i just changed the filter to take a look. there is a trap door that lets in fresh air in where the blower motor is and alows it just have reseculated air stay in the car. i looked on the back side of it i didnt see any thing catching to prevent it from behind. but i dont have time to check the other side to see what it is doing but i dont know what to look for when i remove the glove box. what i mean is what do i expect some thing just plain needing to be replaced as in do i need to replace all the duct work?
