Default Problem with the Monte

Hey all,
The Monte started acting up yesterday when driving under hard power (mainly going uphill or merging) She would suddenly cut the power and the check engine light would come on and service traction control. Then last night a few miles from home it stalled completely and lost power steering and brakes.
I found a video on youtube that is the exact same thing what's happening to mine

does anyone have any ideas what it is?

The guy in the above video said
"Well after a long fight(about a month) GM found the issue. The factory ground that attached to the tranny, close to the starter."
What's that mean?

She goes into the dealer to get checked out this week I'd love to be able to tell them what it could be.

Thanks!

depending on what the codes end up being....i would look into the cat, or fuel system. Im dealing with a misfire myself. check engine light will blink at me and i lose power but my car has never shut down on me yet. When the CE light blinks its warning you that something is causing serious damage to your engine. the cat will make it lose alot of power and make it shut down if its too overloaded. im trying to figure out what is causing my miss fire before it damages my cat, but more worried about engine damage. i hope you dont have a random multiple misfire code like i do. good luck!

There is a ground wire on one of the trans bolts that bolt trans to engine. It's located just behind the radiator fans toward the bottom of the trans. Make sure it's not rusted and it has a good contact. (Take nut off and wire brush area to be sure of a good ground)

That's what he is talking about in the video.

Sure will be a lucky thing if your only problem is a ground cable. The sure sounds scary.

True story:

When my wife was at the Volvo dealer they screwed a guy over a bad ground between engine and transmission. You see, Volvo's don't use a ground strap. The dealer "had to do the job right", so they pulled the engine and transmission and re-machined the surface between them to get a proper ground. Then the customer got a bill for $8500.

The funnier part of the story is that I hadn't originally even heard about it from my wife. I heard the story from the mechanic (a customer of mine) where the screwed-over-customer took the car next. When I questioned my wife about this, she confirmed and clarified this - she sold the job!

Sorry for the side track. But there is a point to my story: Ground strap = good thing

Hay Devon, that is Exactly what Yella was doing when my 2 - 5 coil went bad! Even the sound! I hope GM gets it for you. That sweet car of yours longs to burn up the roads!

Thanks everyone again for the input!
She isn't throwing any codes so when i take her to the dealership later this week I will let them know of all these could be scenarios so they can jump right to the chase!

Have you tried this? It makes perfect sense. If the ground is intermittent the car would lose power and die (like pulling the plug) and vibration/bumps could move the cable back to a spot where it is making good contact. I'd at least look at it before going to the dealer. You just may save yourself a buck or two.
