Default Problem: Bouncing/Suspension/bent lateral bar Problem of 06 Monte Carlo

I have an 06 monte carlo LTZ. I just bought it a week ago and already put a new driver side axle on it, new bearings, new tires, tie rods. It has about 145k miles on it.

The problem I'm having is a bouncing or suspension issue when a highway gets a little uneven. It feels as though the vehicle is going to bounce off the road. The problem was worse before we replaced one rear lateral bar on the passenger side (front bar, I'm not a mechanic, there appeared to be two on one rear wheel). It has significantly improved with the replacement of the one bar. The mechanic showed me it was bent. it was slightly bowed.

there was significant improvement after replacing the lateral bar. However, we're still experiencing the same issue. The mechanic didn't find any other bent lateral bars. Shall we look again or shall we take a look at something else? I already put $1500.00 into it and I only owned it 2 weeks. Would like to not have to spend too much more if I can find it myself.

Help?

Struts?

If you push down and the car bounces the struts are bad

Thanks, I just checked on the trunk to see if it will bounce. It appears to bounce on both sides, but far worse on the passenger side.

Its good to replace struts in pairs, both fronts or both rear. And welcome to the site

Thank you for that advice. That will help in the cost of replacement a lot!

That does sound like the struts, if you can compress and install yourself you may also be able to save yourself a lot of money by just ordering struts from like ZZP or get a part number and order from ebay, this way you get a discounted price and you'll be saving on install also

This weekend put struts on my daughters 01 Malibu took about 30 min ea. at the very most. Bought the preloaded ones off ebay for about $300 all the way around front and rear. No compressing needed as they had new coil springs already attached. Saved alot of hassles that way.......Good luck with the struts....and welcome to the forum
