Question power supply question

Hey fellas! So I am restoring a 1978 Monte Carlo that lets just way was pretty hacked up electrically. I have a bit of experience with electrical, and think that I got it wired all correctly and looking good, but would like to test in. Problem is its a rolling chassis, with no motor, trans, or interior at the moment, but I do have all the wiring in place. Interior and exterior. Can I hook up a 12V car battery, positive to the wires that run from the fuse box to the starter solenoid and black to a ground and do some testing without frying anything or would this be too much power and cause damage? Its a first for me, usually the vehicles I have done previously have had the engine and everything hooked up. Thanks for any input!!!!
