i still think the no start has something to do with the gear selector.

the no start is most likely because of a connection being knocked loose or from the cars security. is there a security relearn procedure for the 7th gens????

Its completely possible I knocked something loose trying to find that socket with the extension...gonna check that and my fuses and battery level in a couple hours...I don't think its padlock or security cause the only light I get when I turn key to acc is the engine light (after they all initially come on and turn off engine only one that remains)
another question...is it possible I bought a bad sending unit? Or that I messed up installing it? I mean I felt the Damn thing screw in I felt it tighten with the socket and I plugged the 3 prong sensor back in to the new one...so I'm pretty sure I did that part right

So I completed the repair successfully was very proud of myself after locating it, getting at it and replacing it....I was all amped up for a test run!
Reconnected battery annnnnd now my car wont start.

My headlights and radio work, so I know I am getting power. My girlfriend jumped me for a good 5 minutes but it just wont start AND my key is stuck in the ignition no matter what I do! Even when I disconnect negative my ignition wont turn all the way back.

I listened under the hood while my gf tried to start and I hear clicking but no cranking (the term for the louder noise right? sorry I am really new at this) so I'm not sure which part isn't working. Anyways...where do I go from here? I looked at my fuses none looked blown but dont know how to test them without my volt ohm meter thats at my work right now....

Any insight would be greatly appreciated. I'm freaking out a little. And I changed my oil too while I was replacing the sending unit so is it bad the new oil is just sitting there without me being able to start the car?
If all you did was disconnect the battery...
I'd say you have a bad connection...

Clean the terminals and the battery really well and then reconnect them.

It could also be a bad switch/shorted wire in the console by the shifter.. (its electric)... Another person here (06mistreSS) had a similar issue with his )06 found that the wire had disconnected/broken and released it out of park manually.

Heres the link this should help! With Pictures!

Thanks Stumpmi! I'll check for manual release here soon. Since time is a factor I want to eliminate things it could not be.... doesn't it mean when I hear the circuit complete when I connect the negative, and the fact my headlights and dashlights are working mean that I have a good battery connection? Or is it possible for these things to work but the connection is not good enough to engage the starter?
Like I said I've only done one repair before lol looks like todays (hopefully) going to be my second one. Cant afford to take it to the dealer....

this may sound silly, but try this...go through the gears and then kind of shove it a little more aggressively into park...on my 02, at times my keys gets stuck because the gear shift is not fully engaging into park, this can cause a no start issue...recreate your repair...make sure no wires got pinched, broken, any bare wires touching to ground...also try turning the key to the run position and listen for the fuel pump...you may also need to do a security relearn...

Well I did manage to get out of park using the manual release button im inspecting everything in that area now...still cant get to my volt meter so cant check my fuses...does it sound like a fuse issue?

I'll try shoving it into park because on the dash computer I try to access feature settings and i get message feature settings available in park so it seems like the computer is not seeing that the car is in park. Let me go try
