Default Penzoil Opinions?

So I was going through my cleaning products that I've accumulated for the Monte and the Furd. Anyway I found the jug that I used to change my oil in the Monte and I had used Penzoil high Mileage oil. Opinions? any good? Anything non synthetic better?

I'll be interested in seeing what people think as well...

Even though my Monte is high miles (at 130k), I still just use regular Pennzoil 5W-30.

I think my 2000 says 4.5 quarts (could be wrong) but I sometimes just pour the whole 5 quarts in

NO! Do NOT use Penzoil. That oil is just as bad as store branded motor oil. It will gunk up your motor before you even know it. There is a reason why popular inexpensive oil changing shops use Penzoil, use Castrol or Mobil 1.

I have always heard this too from several engine builders and different mechanics I know. I use mobile 1 in the monte carlo and regular mobile in the other 2 cars we have. I have also used valvoline's products too. Maxlife is good stuff i think.

I've heard Penzoil is a lesser brand. I have used conventional motor oil (brands like Quaker State, Castrol, Valvoline and Halvoline). No issues. My '94 Grand Am has over 214,000 miles and still runs strong.

The Monte gets the same treatment.

I think at that price level, really about any oil will perform to spec. Gumming up from the parrafin based Pennsoil is old formula. The oil the past 10 years is a whole different formula. I dump the Walmart branded oil in my GMC Sierra, girlfriends and daughters cars. Life goes on, no problems. Lube is lube at that quality level. Now in my High Performance Monte all it gets is fully synthetic Redline 15-50 at about $11.50 qt. and the Napa Gold filter.

Thanks guys looks like I will be switching to Mobil 1 most likely. do they have a high mileage oil thats non synthetic? I'm chosing to go nonsynthetic because it would have no major advantages for me since I rarely drive my car. I use to use Quaker state in everything I owned but I looked for something a bit higher priced figuring that it would be better and got that. Switching it won't hurt right its all 5w-30 and ill be sticking with which ever brand I switch to.

I work at Walmart Automotive Tire and Lube while in school and let me tell you this Wal-mart uses it in bulk its the standard oil put in for customers unless they want something different when we ask them. NONE of the people in the shop use Penzoil!! lol everybody uses Valvoline or Mobil. Mobil does have a non synthetic high mileage you should see it by the regular Mobil 5000 oil.
