Overheated, coolant bubbled and spilled out....
does anyone know what the problem might be? After getting home I was waiting for someone andI was sitting in my car when I heard bubbling. I opened the hood and coolant was bubbling and spilling out of the coolant carrier (?) and now my coolant is only half full. It's been overheating just a little bit for the last 2 weeks or so and I thought that it was just a little low on coolant (I know I know but I am not a mechanic in the least bit) but I now I'm kinda shook
Here's some possiblities:
1. The drivebelt for the water pump could be defective or out of adjustment preventing the pump from ciculating the antifreeze
2. The water pump is bad and needs replacing
3. Radiator core is clogged inside the radiator or the grille(the mulitple thinfins that go up and down it)is restricted. Radiator core will need to be cleaned out or replaced. The fins can cleaned off from the bugs that collect on them.
4. Either cracked or broken fan blades, or bad fan (in front of the radiator).
