The only problem with using a full synthetic oil, is, if it hasn't been used from day 1, you will
start getting leaks around the cam seals, crank seal, and valve cover gaskets. The best way to go is a semi synthetic (synthetic blend) or a high mileage oil.
I changed at 32000, no leaks, or problems. still going 10000 miles strong on only 2 oil changes.

Mad717, They are "Venti" 17" wheels. I picked them up at Discount Tire.

The synthetic oil has been doing great, no leaks, better gas millage, and the car runs much smoother.

The brakes have been great, I only wish I had bought Zinc plated rotors (more expensive), because now the center of rotors are rusting and they look like crap! Gonna have to pull the rotors off and paint them (next month some time).

Re: Oil Changes by DIYers

Does one have to reset a computer code that lights the never-popular "Change Oil" idiot light? I justbought a '97thathas the light illuminated at start-up.

My 2003 gets reset through the radio controls. Check your handbook.

F.Y.I.-
I just changed the oil in the Monty after a little over 5,000 miles! I put the same synthetic back in it, and used the K&N Hi-Po oil filter again. Car runs great, and no leaks!

I just changed mine to mobil 1 yesterday too with 29,000 miles on her, hope no problems arise. the main difference that i see is that the oil pressure seems to move a little more that with whatever was in the car before. and i used a fram filter cuz thats all i've ever bought, never had any noise before but it was always for my trucks or my 5th gen hope it works out on this one.

I just changed mine about 2 weeks ago but used the K&N filter ... they run about 11 bux, im hearing good things about their filters (plus it has a nut welded to the bottom of the filter to make it easier to take off) and have heard nothing but bad things about FRAM filters.

I was a die hard FRAM filter guy until they started selling them cheap at walmart and i guess they also make em cheaper now (im talking about the orange Fram PH filter). Never had any problem with them
