Default Odd AC "problem"

OK, I followed some advice from this forum a little while back....as far as recharging the system with R-134A. It worked fine and the car is cooling from all vents. There is something odd going on, however. Whenever I turn the car off, there is sort of a hissing sound coming from inside the dash somewhere. It's not really a hiss, either...it's almost like a gurgling sound that lasts about 5 seconds. This only started after I recharged the system. Also, the air won't cool right on the highest setting for the A/C when it's on MAX COOL. It's only cold when I set it to level 3 on MAX COOL or nomal A/C. Maybe I actually have a leak in the system? What do you all think about this?

Jon

PS: I have to say...I still like this car more than my 2003 Impala... : )

I don't really have any input on the AC problem, I just wanted to know why you like the 97 Monte over the 2003 Impala?

I was told that the hissing is the refrigerant recirculating, and the gurgling is just moisture in the condensor. My A/C also makes those noises. When you say the air won't cool right what exactly do you mean? On the highest setting in my car I usually have to wait 10 minutes for the coldest air to come out, it's almost instantaneous on the other settings.

My A/C system both in my car and in my house makes that gurgle noise. I think it's pretty normal. If you loose freon again have your A/C guy run dye through the system to find the leak. Does it still seem that hot air is mixing with cool air? You may still have something going on with the blendoor. Maybe a vac leak somewhere.

My opinion on the Impala is: I don't care for them at all. I actually test drove one the day I purchased my Monte. As MonteLS would say, it's fugly..lol

Well, I like the 97 Monte because of the way the seating conforms with my duty belt on the way to work. It just seems like the seats mold around me much better than the Impala.
