Default O2 delete/exhaust delete

2002 Monte 3.8L - The exhaust system was a wreck when I purchased this monte and I was told that I could delete the O2 sensor and cat and run a straight pipe from the exhaust manifold with the O2 sensor still there. Correct or not? I was told just one sensor (the front one) is needed and I can delete the cat and that other O2 sensor. Any thoughts on this? Thx.

You can do that but youll have a CEL. You can delete the code in the PCM.

My .02, I'd suggest you delete the post. The EPA has been really cracking down lately on emissions equipment modification. Certainly their focus has been at the shop / parts manufacturer level for the moment, but I sure wouldn't be posting intent to violate federal law on a public forum (and no, it doesn't matter if your state tests for it or not, emissions equipment is a federal requirement).

You definitely have a good point here. I would also hate for someone to look at us as "promoting" anything either. I know I have made my fair share of "recommendations" in the past so maybe I should reconsider how I answer these.
