Gas wise, just make sure you are putting in 91/93 octane.

The biggest problem is going to be the transmission. The 4t65e-hd in the car is pretty weak at 300HP. Some are very lucky, some aren't.

Thank you all for the greetings.
I didn't know these engines required premium, I don't have an owners manual yet, and I just filled up with regular. Guess I'll have to take it easy on the throttle for this tank. I thought when I bought it that these only required regular, but I guess it would cause to much knock or even worse detonation?
The trans so far seems pretty good. I've only put about 400 miles on it since I bought it, but it shifts smoothe and seems strong. Hopefully it lasts.
I did have some ticking when starting up the other day, it was in the lower 20's. It's good to hear that it's normal.
Oil consumption is normal? I'm ok with burning a quart every few thousand miles. I do oil changes every 5k miles. I would prefer not to, but that doesn't seem like a drastic amount of oil being burned. What would the long term effects be of burning oil? Fouling out plugs possibly? I would think that as long as I stay on top of the oil levels and keep it full then there shouldn't be any damage to come from burning it. I hope lol.
Anyways, thanks again for the warm welcoming. The croud here seems to be a lot more mature then the crouds in the Mazda forums.
That reminds me, quick off the wall question. I know the 5.3 is used, or has been used, in the silverado trucks. Did those require premium also? Or is it just the tune on this car?
Thanks guys

This car recommends premium, but it does have a lower power tune to compensate for regular. But I wouldn't recommend you do that a lot. You aren't running the car to its full potential right now

Instead of starting a new thread, I'll just continue asking my questions here.
Is there a way to dis-able the heater that turns on automatically when I use my remote start? Even with the vent turned off, it still blasts the heater whenever I use the remote start. I'd like to turn it off if there's a way to do it.
Thanks again for the info.
