New gauge overlay.... HELP!
I would like to purchase a glow gauge overlay for my 04 monte off of ebay. Seeing as half of my bulbs in cluster went out, and I have had zero luck finding anyone brave enough to solder on it. The overlay I want gives a blue/green glow at night and then just plain white in daytime. $59 shipped. Not bad, but the seller listed as only for 2000-2003 monte. I emailed him "will it work fine with my 04 monte carlo" to which he responded "No"... He claimed that it would not give proper readings, etc..
Does this sound right? I want to try it, but then again, I dont want to **** away 60 bucks. Any help would be greatly appreciated

First, your screenshot is too small to read anything.
Second, I think I found your listing or one similar (link below):
2000 2003 Chevy Impala Monte Carlo LS SS Glow Gauge Faces LED License Bulb | eBay
My guess (and this is all it is), is that the seller is not familiar with the Monte Carlo (just what the parent manufacturer puts in the information). Nature of the business.
Based on the pic in the link I posted, the cluster overlay looks identical. I'm not sure how the overlay will change the reading of your gauges. Again, my guess is that the seller believes that the gauge readings on an '04+ are different then a '00-'03.
I'd give you 90% odds that you could buy this and be fine. But, if you buy it, also be prepared for it might not work.

Jason is right, the manufacturer assumes that the 04 Monte gauge cluster is different. The thing I would take note of is that the Glow Cluster has a speedometer that goes to 140 MPH. If your stock gauges got to 120 or 160 MPH or they read 5, 15, 25 ect, then the new cluster will not read properly. That may be Why they listed it for the 00 - 03. I recommend checking your gauges to ensure that your Stock gauges, all of them, read exactly the same as the new ones before you purchase them.
I Also recommend checking exactly how the new cluster is electricly connected. Is it to be Soldered in or plugged in? If plugged in then you are good to go. If soldered then you may want to find someone who can do it for you. I am assuming that you do not solder because of the problem you mentioned with your current gauge cluster.
Good luck! If you do purchase it and get it working, post pics and a dissipation of what you had to do to get it to work. I have been contemplating getting something similar for my 02 but would lime to see how it works in a Real Car. Not the manufacturers pic.

Well, I ordered overlay, and it did in fact work. Only took a little time to get all needles where they needed to be ( pulled needles when I initially removed cluster). Pictures to come as soon as I decide how I want it to be wired. As of now, I have it to a 12v cig lighter adapter. (<--- THATS LAME) I wanted to tie it in along with fog light button, but could not figure out proper install.... I dont really want to install another toggle, as I would like to make it look as clean as I can. If anyone knows a proper way to tie in with fog button, please lend some knowledge my way. Button has 4 wires... black, grey, purple, and orange. Did some looking and found only one diagram online (attached). Looking for install where gauges will only be lit when fog light is on.
