I'll try to make a long story short..This week I observed my dash/exterior lights blinking and as recent as two days ago my 03 SS acted as if it was going to stall out. This morning after pulling from the driveway it died in the street. No power. I have two amps in my car and never had any problems before. I also have a K&N CAI and a Optima red top less than a month old. I purchased a new alternator this morning and for the life of me can't get the belt over the alternator pulley correctly to even check to see if the alternator wa the problem. Any advise at this point would help. Thanks in advance.

 

Yup. BCM gone bad. Body Control Module. Did you hear any clicking sounds? The flickering lights is the clue. Try to find a used one. Not a cheap unit. Couple hundred if I remember.
As far as the belt, I believe there is an idler pulley, which will move with a 1/2" breaker bar, letting you change belts. Guessing here, but look for the pulley, and there should be a 1/2" square hole in the bracket by it.

Just an update on my car saga.. I finally got the belt right on the pulley system. Car fired up no problem while everything seem to work fine. Drove about a quarter mile before she died again. Quick question. If I buy adayco BCM from autozone, advance or any place but the dealer are these plug and play units or do they need to be programed at a dealership? Do they charge an arm and a leg for that too?

 

They should be plug and play.

 

I didn't know you could get one from Auto Zone. So many differences in options and the such, I don't know. The BCM controls almost everything in the car but the motor and airbags. But if you supply them with the vin#, then it should work.
