Default Monitor reset for smog

2001 Monte Carlo 3.4L

Does anyone know how to check if the system monitors have reset. Cant get car smogged due to evap system monitor not ready. I cleared the computer last friday, went to smog monday and was told monitors not ready. Its now thursday. Im assuming it should be ready by now but is there a way i can check this myself before going back to smog?

The only way I know of is to check the systems with a Tech 2 scanner. There is a function that can be selected that will list each monitor (module) and report back as "OK" or "Not Ready".
Most systems reset fairly soon after a reset, but some things like EVAP and Catalyst take longer. I don't know exactly how long it takes, but it's a combination of start ups, and miles ran before everything resets. I want to say 3 starts and 50 or 100 miles for most things, but I think the EVAP system takes around 100, and catalytic converter takes 500 miles.

Ya, i talked to a few people who also said the evap monitor takes longer.
Theres nowhere that offers free testing/scanning with Tech II scanners is there? Id have to know somebody who owns one or buy one myself huh? Lol

Ya nothing comes for free in this world anymore. I have my own and know there are other individuals that do too, or you could call around and find a shop that has one.

Some OBD2 scanners actually show the ready states too. You can try autozone or something local and see.

I use a cheap bluetooth ODBII tool paired to my laptop and I use a program called ScanXL-pro I bought years ago. There are probably a bunch of tools that can check those monitors, but it would take some research to learn which ones.
