Exclamation Mechanical issues

1997 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Z34 3.4l DOHC, transmission shifts smoothly but looses power and speed. Appears to have plenty of power in first gear only. Problem is getting more intense every time it gets driven. Seems to get worse as the engine temperature increases/warms up. 4k on new motor and 108k on transmission. any idea of what this could be?

Haven't completely ruled out the cat, but the performance in first gear tells me that the exhaust is not plugged.
