Default Many Problems with my 01 Monte

Okay everyone I'm new to the forum and I just bought a 2001 Limited Edition Monte about 4 months ago and I'm haveing a few problems with it. First thing it is very hard to start, cranks for a while fires up and dies then on the second time it will usually start. Another thing is I will be driving and when I make left turns the rpms drop and sometimes i can give it gas and get it to keep running but most of the time it dies. And the last problem I'm haveing is in like 3rd and 4th gear the rpms like to jump all over the place like im reving it like crazy and it jerks the car really bad. Most of the time i have to drive around in second gear so it doesnt do it. I have noticed that problem only happens once the car is warmed up. These cold mornings i wake up and the car runs great but as soon as it starts to warm up its doing it again.

I dont know what specs are but i have checked fuel pressure and it was at 45 running and i turned it of to make sure it held and it went up to 55. I checked codes and had one for P0137 o2 sensor low voltage but it is stored not current. Thats about all i have and Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Allen

Replace the 02 sensors if you haven't yet.
Sounds like a bad Catalytic converter, hesitation and stalling. Common when 02 sensors lights show up.

Front Bank o2 sensor could be going.

Could also be your MAF sensor. When it's struggling to start, unplug the MAF and try to start it again.

Thanks for the input I'm pretty sure to have diagnosed it as a bad cat and have an appointment for wednesday morning at the local dealership. Good thing is there was a recall and they extended the warrenty so hopefully it won't cost me anything. Ill let you guys know if it fixes it. Thanks

FYI - I believe an '01 is one of the years covered by GM extending the warranty on a failing cat (10 years or 120K miles, which ever comes first). I know there is dicussion on this forum with the campaign number GM has on that.

Yah it is. Mine was made in may 01 and only has 98000 miles so I'm good on the warrenty as long as they diagnose it as a bad cat also.

Just got back from the dealership they said the diaphram inside my fpr was collapsing so they did that and I had them do the cat anyways because it was free. Car is fixed now and running the best it has since I got it 4 months ago. Now I can actually enjoy it! Thanks to the few that gave me some input it was greatly appreciated!

Glad you got it figured out. It's awful when you buy a car and somthing major goes wrong right away. Mine was a heater core about a month after i had it. Now you can enjoy driving it.
