ZZP has a beefed up 4t65e-hd available. Has anyone tried one of these?

And I doubt that the only mod was that turbo. Everything's probably ported too. Adding just a turbo to an LS4 will put you in mid-high 12's -low 13 range (hence my saying low 13's EASY)

dude sweet. you mean all i would have to do is mod the *** out of an l67 to beat a stock ls4 car? ive raced modded l67s in my nearly stock ls4 car, and my car didnt look like it was standing still. granted i dont believe that the l67 cars were cammed, but it was far from stock. at the point that youre going to do a cam swap id want to start thinking about cubic inches. the l67 in my eyes only has one good thing going for it, and thats the power adder from the factory. slap a power adder on the ls4, and its bound to out power the l67 car. the ls4 has almost 100 cubes on it. turbo vs turbo in a street application the ls4 car should out power the l67 just on cubes alone. i mean think about it the ls4 cars are making 500hp with just the cartuning kit. thats with the factory cam. there truly is no replacement for displacement. size definitely matters in a hp war. a turbod, cammed ls4 with an ls6 intake should make more power than a turbod cammed l67. not to mention id have to believe that the l67 is going to need a far more radical cam to produce the same number as the ls4 car. bone stock the ls4 is rated at 303hp so its already got a 63hp lead on the l67. i bet with the ls6 intake it would probably jump another 30hp. thats almost a 100hp. i dont know what kinda mods it takes to make a 100hp jump with an l67, but id imagine its quite a few to do it reliably. i also wonder if the ls4 is lighter being aluminum.

personally i think either swap is foolish. the montes came with both of those drivetrains in them. theres no reason to do a swap. just buy one with the motor you want in there. theyre both affordable now. i just dont see it being a worth while investment to do a drivetrain swap into a car that had that drivetrain as an option. its far from a sleeper.

flat 11s took more work than just a turbo on that car, but they can go deep into the 12s with the turbo kit.

i think the ls4 would be good enough with just an intake and cam swap. the heads are already nice. theyve gone almost mid 13s bone stock, and well into the 12s with a intake and cam.

honestly if you just want to drag race the car look for a rwd car. hell get a miata, and throw an ls1 into it. the monster miatas are sleepers. any of the small rwd imports with an lsx are monsters. (rx7,240s, or keep it american go with the vega, monza, pinto, maverick, chevette,or s10.) me and my friend do this all the time, try and come up with a stupid go quick combo. the debate always ends with him saying some absurd american car with an import swap. i suggested an old nsx with a turbod ls4 just to be silly. my point is if youre looking to go fast in a straight line go rwd. its easier to push something than to pull it.

The best way to get the LS4 is to sell your car and buy the V8. Then you'll have all the suspension upgrades, wiring, etc. done for you.

L67 is a good swap.

the ls4 is on ebay constantly for a good price with the trans and the wiring, but once again i think its kind of a waste of time going through the trouble of doing that swap. i dont see why it couldnt be done for a few grand doing all the work yourself.
