So my dad and I bought a scanner to read the codes because my Mom's Bonneville threw an engine light. Turns out the code was PO332 which is "Knock Sensor 2 circuit low input bank 2" We found the knock sensor under the car to the left of the oil filter, screwed into the engine block. Its between the transmission and engine block. You can see the sensor in plain view, but the transmission is in the way of getting a straight shot at getting a socket on it. The Knock sensor for bank 1 is easy to get to. Go figure. Does anyone know of a way to get the knock sensor on bank 2 out and replace it? Is there a special tool to get up there?
I know its not a Monte, but its the same engine/ drivetrain....
Any help would be awesome, we really don't want to take it in for a $67 part...and pay God knows how much for labor to install it.
I found if you break the top of the connector for the sensor, use a chrome 22 with size in the photo, you can break it loose then take it out using a magnet from the back and install the new one doing the reverse but with a 22 wrench box end that is cut to be shorter
