Default key remote fob

In my 07 ss black car, I could unlock and remote start in good distance.

When I traded in for another 07 as blue car, and I only can unlock this car about 1 car away.

Why?

What's the point of having remote starter if u can't start car in far distance.. :-(

Tks

transmitter or battery in current fob are on the way out...try getting a new fob battery first and see if that helps, if it doesnt, id just get a new fob and reprogram it to your car.

*also can a mod move this to the appropriate forum please*

GM had problems with the remote start in Monte Carlo and Impala models from '06 forward. This problem can be resolved under warranty (if applicable). The dealer needs to replace the receiver, add an antenna booster and replace the key fobs.

Ok thanks. I'll let dealer know...

Also I read some comment from someone when I googled the problem. He said that air psi sensor is also part of this issue. My driver side front tire sensor do lose info from that tire, showing blank in display once a while. I want to double check to see if this is actually related issue.

Ok.. Service said warranty and extended warranty wouldn't cover it. And I have to buy extended range antenna. He suggested me to buy aftermarket since it cost $400..

I hate aftermarket bec they always last a year or less..

Do u have any recommendation on good aftermarket?

GM had a TSB about it, but never an actual recall on it

Agreed, it's so expensive for remote start to work the way it is meant to. It was such a shame on those cars.

You can probably try to find the TSB and maybe it lists parts and DIY, and just use the dealer to program?

Mine 2007 quit working and the receiver and key fobs were replaced under warranty. The original had good range but the replacement is a lot shorter. Yours may be working properly though, I have seen a handful of posts elsewhere that other peoples replacements also were not as good as the original.
