A hub will give signed way prior to freezing up. Vebrating and shaking on tje side the hub is on.You will hear a bad hub vibrate. Especially when you go around a corner that puts more of weight on tjay side. Thats just before it freezes and or snaps. Nor will it freeze up then release.
But there are 2 easy test. Fill a spay bottle with water. After driving for s bit, or especially when it locks up on you, spray it on your rotors. If it steams and evaporates, that's normal. If it Sizzles like water on hot coals That's a bad caliper.
For the hub, put the car on your jack. Hold the tire at the 3 and 9 o'clock Position's and wiggle it from side to side. If it moves, through hub is bad.

No offense intended, but you should do a little more research before making erroneous statements.

I could be wrong, But I have never heard of a Hub Bearing Seizing. Of coarse this is from my limited experience with my own cars over the last 34 yrs.
Granted a Seized caliper will give signs it is going bad too.
If I am wrong then I need to Learn something. I would like to know what statement I made that was erroneous. So I do not make that mistake again! Thanks!!!!!

The bold-faced type above contain the erroneous information. They may be some of the symptoms one may experience, but a bearing can go away prior to any of those signs showing up. I have seen numerous hubs (usually cheap off brand) seize within a couple hundred miles and not make a sound before seizing.

A bearing can seize, then release. However, if the bearing is allowed to completely cool (solidify) then it won't break free.

03SSLE, although I have never seen a seized bearing release, I cannot go against your experience. After all that's the basis for MCF, to learn from one another's experience! You learned me something today!!!!!
