Intermittent Power from engine at WOT
Hey guys, just checking here to see if one has had this issue with the 3400. When i floor it it seems like im getting horsepower intermittently, in other words the rps look fine but i get full power for about a second then it leaves for about 3 seconds then i get full power again for about a second and so on. I don't usually floor it ever-since i noticed this i cant help but to keep testing to see if it will happen again and it does keep happening. Could it be a clogged cat, i mean its an '05 with only 75k on it. no engine mods tho, besides the cheap CAI.

hmm, knocking? is that bad? any way to fix it? i think i forgot to add that i do have a P0445 code on. but as far as i thought that shouldnt affect performance. Something else that i noticed could be related is that only sometimes when i start the car it kinda feels like its hesitating, it hard to explain but but it kinda feels like a car thats has ran out of gas, but mine keeps doing this over and over without stalling, as soon as i hit the gas half way down it stops doing it. but this only happens sometimes until i shut the car off, it doesnt just start happening while im driving.

Yeah I doubt the code to your EVAP system is causing this.
I'm not so great on the 3400, but the warm start and everything kind of sounds like a MAF sensor issue. Maybe the MAF sensor isn't registering the correct amount of air. How's your fuel consumption been?

Fuel... not that great at alli get about 310 miles with a fuel tank and i think our fuel tank is what 17 gals? so 18.23 mpgs dont sound that great. could a bad MAF sensor be defective without it giving me a check engine light?

So i cleaned the MAF sensor on the car and i also cleaned the honey comb looking screen thats in the intake and the car feels much better. The bad news is that the problem is still there, So for all of you guys that feel their car bogging down, clean the MAF sensor and then take it from there. I still have a few things im gonna try to fix the intermittent power issue like: Replacing my cat since it' alreade 76k miles old, checking the Pressure control solenoid since i am having tranny issues and finally to track a p0455 code because i've heard that this would may not directly affect the performance but a large leak could mess up the air to fuel ratio in the intake.
