Default IAT (Intake air temp sensor)

IAT Intake Air Temp sensor

(Located on the intake duct)

Has anyone experienced any issues with this sensor?

If so,
What issue did it cause?

Increase Fuel Consumption
  • The temperature of your vehicle's intake affects the amount of fuel needed to properly operate the car. If the IAT is not working properly, the car's computer may think the car needs a stronger fuel mixture and cause the car to consume more fuel than it normally does.

Your gas mileage would likely decrease if you were running too rich.

Increased fuel mileage would be negligible. Oxygen sensors would cut fuel back once it got warmed up.
