Default I broke this little piece. What is it? 85 SS with BBC

I was checking to be sure this hose was attached well and broke it. This 85 SS has been changed to a carbureted BBC engine. You can probably see that the piece broke beneath the edge of the air filter, between the carburetor and distributor. In case the video color is a challenge, the wire is purple. I made a video and posted it to youtube.

Can someone tell me:

1. What it is?
2. If possible, can I start the car before fixing it?
3. How to fix it?

Link to video I took on youtube.

What Big Block Engine do you have ? "348" ? "409" ? ___?

It may help our experts when they view your video...

I don't think it will hurt your engine to start `it ? ?
I can see where it is broke, but I'm not sure what it was connected to...Who did the install of the BBE ? Can you contact that person ?

Please check back on your thread later to see `if one of our Expert Member's can assist...Good Luck

I think the purple line goes to your air /heat control panel ..

Looks like vacuum port in manifold behind carb .. just unscrew it an install a new fitting..

you could get a fitting .. if you need more ports for other stuff,

I think your right jerry. Also being vacuum related you can run it but it's probably gonna run rough.

Default Thank you everyone.

Thanks everyone for your help. I'll unscrew that fitting and replace. I'm posting another post in a minute regarding a starting issue. Feel free to put your two cents in on that post too.
