Default HP Gains

Does the u-bend delete work well with the 3.1 liter? I have the K&N filter but not the cold air install. Iget better throttle response with this but haven`t really seen a fuel mileage change. But I`ll see what this does on my trip to Fla. One other thing....I`m experimenting with tire pressures. I have the 60 series tires on my`97. Book calls for 30 psi but I`m experimenting with 33 psi cold and seems to get a better ride but still havent seen a change in the fuel milage. Any ideas???? Love this site!

All the K&N drop in filter does is eliminate buying filters again. If you want gains, you MUST change the air box, and put in a cone filter and a smooth bore tube, as the CAI's have. I don't like the ones that still use the billows tube from the factory.
U-bend delete eliminates the restriction in the exhaust pipe, another good mod. I don't recommend a high flow cat for your car, just one that is working properly, unless you add an O2 simulator.
I've gone to 27.5psi to save my tires. 33 will wear out the centers FAST! 30psi MAX. 30 wore out my $$$ Michelins, 28.5 wore out my BFG's.

What year is the car? 2000+ airboxes are much better than others and don't need to be changed out as regularly to CAI. There are dyno tests that show the drop in filter is good enough to give 7 hp and you don't need to swap them anymore. It is actually a really good cheap mod for that engine.

The U-Bend should be removed to get much better performance.

7HP? That's hard to believe. I had a drop in filter in my '01 SS LE and noticed NO performance OR milage gains. I did not have it dyno'd. My Intimidator SS with the full K&N CAI gave an IMMEDIATE 2 mpg gain, and a noticeable gain in performance, again with no dyno.

I got 2 MPG bonus n my Wizaired as well.

Don't get me wrong as I didn't see the 7 hp myself. It was just 3rd party info off ClubGP from people that dynoed it themselves.
