P0122 denotes a low voltage condition at the TPS.

P0122 Throttle Position Sensor/Switch A Circuit Low Input - Check Engine Light Code

It could be that the replacement harness was not installed properly, there is frayed/chafed wiring elsewhere in the circuit or (as Chibi Mike mentioned) the TPS may not have been installed properly. Another possible cause that is rare (but will set the P0122 code) is a faulty fuel pressure regulator.

Default Oh crud!

Didn't know I got more replies.
Thanks for looking that up!

So I went back to the dealer a week ago to recheck the wiring. They said that the wiring was correct but when I looked at it, each colorord wire of the new plug I bought was mismatched with another colored wire.. all 3 of them.. now I don't remember what exactly the original plug wires were located so I can't say for sure if colors matter but what I'm going to do is take a snapshot and see if anyone else on here happens to see if the colors happen to match on the plug itself.

The dealership also told me that my throttle body is going :\ I can't see that being the case. The throttle plate is flush and I scrubbed the inside out with a toothbrush and carb cleaner. It's spic and span.

It's definitely the TPS and the wiring. I'll take a picture in a minute and upload it here. Maybe someone else has their original TPS on their 3.4L DOHC and can verify that it's correct.

brb!

Cool So check out these images..

Here's the pictures of the wires. Wonder if anyone knows if they're wired legit..

I have a feeling that the feedback wire is connected to the wrong one..?

As you can see here,
Green is going to yellow
Black is going to Green
Yellow is going to Black

The yellow wire is connected to the lead that's at the top of the pyramid
Green is on the right base pyramid
Black is on the left base pyramid

If you have any suggestions, let me know for sure.

Thanks!

To 03SSLE
Thanks for the heads up about the fuel pressure regulator.. matter of fact, I had just recently replaced that about 2 months ago as it was stalling my car. No more stalling now though

Sadly, I'm not familiar enough with the 3.4 DOHC to be of help about the wiring.

And unless the 3.4 DOHC has a "special" throttle body, these items don't "go bad". They have sensors that may malfunction, may need crud cleaned out, lastly, a spring and throttle linkage (which I have never heard of one braking AND if it did, you'd know). So unless the throttle body is suddenly combusting, melting, eroding... I don't know how one defines it as "going bad".

I can't get a pin out on the connector right now, but I can tell you what the factor wires are.

DK BLU- TPS sensor in
GRAY- 5v reference
BLK- engine data sensor ground

My question is, why do you have a yellow wire? I tried multiple years and they all show blue. There is a yellow wire on CKP, CTS, Range switch, TCC release, VSS, MAF, but NOT TPS.

Wow I have no idea why they're green, yellow, and black. However, my car came with those colored wires when I bought it and I'm almost 99.9% sure that they're the original wire that was build with the motor.

My car is a 97 Monte Carlo Z34 with a 3.4L DOHC

I thought yellow is the 5v to TPS
Green was the reference / relay
and Black was the ground.. what I don't get is, why did they mix up the wires like this?

To The_Maniac,
Yea, the throttle body is just fine and the sensor in it is also just fine.. it's screwed right to the plate and it's not going anywhere.. can't see how it's "gone bad".. the guy at the dealership was right once about the fuel pressure regulator during another issue but this is just plain out wrong in my opinion..

To AussieK2000
Ya know, i have no idea. I bought my wire from a parts dealer on ebay and this was exactly the same as the one I had in there already so I went with it.. It looked good too so I can't see it being a problem.

I guess what I'm going to have to do is take a Saturday afternoon and just pull them apart and re-apply them different ways to see how it works out.
