Default Help please!!

I have a 2000 Monte ss 3.8 just swapped transmissions and this transmission (just like the old one) won't shift into over drive. Any ideas?
Also, my car is making a horrible noise. It kind of sounds like a fan belt noise but not. Once the car warms up it's a constant noise. I've replaced the tensioner pully, water pump and the power steering pump as well. I'm out of ideas. I plug in the code reader and nothing comes up besides it's idling a little high.. Also, in between 20mph and 30mph my car jumps like the tranny is slipping hard but it's not the granny.. Please help!!!

Did you re-use the torque converter from the old trans. or replace it. Kinda' sounds like that might be the problem., or the replacement trans. is bad. Is the replacement used or remanufactured/ rebuilt? In any case, the torque converter should always be replaced when you do a swap. Was the torque converter seated properly onto the trans.? and filled with fluid before the installation? Could be a number of things, but this is what I'm suspicious of and they won't throw a code. A video with sound would help.

I don't know the old tork converter was left in it or not but I can find out. I remember having to buy seals for it. The replacement trans is used. Do you think that it's the transmission making this noise?

There are no external seals necessary for the torque converter. Hard to say with any certainty what the source of the noise is without being there or a video, but considering the problem didn't change after the swap, I think it's something to be highly suspicious of, specifically the torque converter clutch which is supposed to engage at the highest gear.

Here's a video explaining how it works:

The torque converter was swapped out with Tue transmission. The torque converter that came with the transmission we put in with it. And the person we got it from had no problems or noises with that transmission

It's not letting me put a video of the noise on here. Can you email me?

K. Could be two different problems.
Pretty hard to diagnose from written description, a video would really help, but another possibility is a bad spider bearing in the C/V axle.
Is the noise there whether the car is rolling or not?
What is the RPM's at 60 mph?

Just that tranny having No O/D is worrisome in itself.

I'm surprised you're not seeing Code PO1811

I thought we all get that one!

I have a video of the noise but it will not let me post it on here. The noise is constant, as soon as it warms up. It is there all the time until I shut off the car and I I restart the car while it's still warm the noise is still there. Is there a way you can email me or Facebook me so I can send you that video. And I think the shake is the c/v axel that's what the tire shop said.
My email is irishgreeneyes1980@yahoo.Com
