Question Help!

The passenger power lock doesnt work on my 2002 Monte carlo SS. The driver power lock works fine. Any advice on how to fix?

Sounds like your door lock actuator is shot. Can you lock the door from the inside with the "slide" that's near the handle, just that the power feature doesn't work? If so that's my bet if not you may have to take the door panel off and lube the locking mechanism.

Good luck.

Yeah, I can lock from inside manually and unlock from outside manually without a problem. The power lock is the only problem. Can you give me a realistic estimate as to how much this should cost to have a garage fix?

Mitchell (Technician's "bible") says labor is 1.2 hours OE part is approx $100 (that's OE can probably find aftermarket in the $50-60 range). Using those figures to have a shop do it probably looking at around $220.

That's just using Mitchell, don't hold those numbers as being 100% accurate. I would imagine if you are somewhat handy with tools you should be able to replace it yourself. I never had and am kind of surprised that nobody else has chimed in here to help you out.

BTW: might help to be a little more descriptive with your thread title next time. IE: "Help: Door Lock Inop". Give people looking only @ titles an idea of what you need without going into thread. I also notice you have another thread with same title. Some may think you accidentally posted same thread twice and not check the second.

At any rate good luck with getting your problems fixed.
