headrest removal

Default headrest removal

Hello all.....I have a 2005 Monte Carlo LT and i cannot figure out how to remove the headrests to put on a set of seat covers...Can anyone help me out here??? Thank you all.....mike

I've read in a couple of other threads where members say that you just have to give it a good yanking. I personally haven't tried it.

NO! DON'T DO THAT! I have Dale Earnhardt "logo" embroidered headrests (my avatar), and I swap the drivers headrest in and out with a regular headrest. It's simple. On the outer side of the plastic base, attached to the seat, is a small button, almost invisible, but there. Push both both buttons to release the latch holding in the posts. Lift the headrest up all the way, push one side button and pull up on the headrest to release that side, then push the other side button and lift the headrest out. Easy when you know how.

I was partially wrong. BOTH headrest have the buttons on the RIGHT side of the headrest base. See the attached pics.

I press that button but the head rest stops at the end of the slide and doesn't come out easily at all.

Do the Earnhardt headrests fit the 2006 & 2007 MC??
