Wouldn't that just make it a highbeam and illegal?

Yeah what everyone else has said. Your headlights would not meet state or country regulartions.

come on people. i think he's wanting to know what the light pattern will look like. not if it's legal or not (which obviously it's not).

to help answer question: i think yeah, it may seem brighter, but what's really happening is that the light refraction is gonna be all screwed up. your beam pattern will be one wide mess instead of a focused pattern. that reflector thingy and the back reflector is what focuses our lights. remove that and you're better off taping mag lights to your hood.

fyi- i have hids in my stock headlights and they look fine

His answer was answered. The answer was that the light would act as a high beam. Thus doing nothing for his lighting as a low beam...

i know it will be unfocused but it will be hard to see at night. but did you try looking up projectors for you. because i know the projectors dont have the front focusing reflector as the stock housing has. but the projectors make the bulbs have a more of a focuse on them. what i mean with out the reflector on the lens will make it look and make it hard to drive and will dissatisfy the drive at night. i would look for projectors for it then messing with the original head light unit
