Default Headlight Dimmer Signal Lever assembly/switch thing??

I don't know what to call this stupid thing....but the lever (shaft) was broken off, so I couldn't dim my headlights anymore. So I dismantled my dash and pulled the steering wheel.
Well does anybody know how to get the part that connected to the lever that actually pushes the switch in and out to dim or brights your headlights....Its black and kind of pushed into the metal rod seemingly freely so you can rotate up down and neutral position (left signal, right signal)
I don't know if I have to pull the ignition turn-key...to get the whole steering colum cover off just to get this little piece.

I have Chiltons book.....and lol pretty sure it mentions nothing about this section of your car. I tell all about the signal switch (white piece inside the steering wheel)

All the turn signal and dimmer switches are inside the steering column. You have to remove the steering wheel, then remove all the bits and pieces behind the wheel. You'll need special tools to remove c-clips and what not. But you don't need to remove the ignition/key or disasemble the column in any way. The wires then run down under the dash to a connection down there. Oh, and that turn signal lever can easily be pulled out of the side of the column then reinstalled by pushing it straight back in. It'll snap into place. Is is possible that the lever just got knocked loose and could be pushed back into place?
