Griff, I know first hand how Hard it is to put out so much $$$. Lord knows that when all is said and done, I will have spent 1 1/2 times the blue book value of the car. It's a shame you don't do the work yourself. You would spend a heck of a lot less. And the Satisfaction is tremendous. And the first problem I had was $900 worth of Electrical.
I say clean out your TB. And clean the MAF sensor. Then if needed, replace it with a GM sensor. Unless your wiring was messed with, it shouldn't be a problem.

I'm going to start doing more of the work myself. I have done all the simple routine stuff myself. I need to study a little more and then I can do the more medium duty stuff like radiator and fuel pump. I am gonna clean the throttle body and do the MAF sensor. My wiring has never been messed with so like you I don't think that is the problem. Whenever I do get it all solved I will for sure let you know. Thanks so much for all the advice JC.

What is the code numbers found causing your CEL? Based on what you said the code description is, I'm guessing there is a good chance it's a MAF, but I'm curious what the shop book says for your current error (I speculate a few things could cause low voltage situations).

As for cleaning the throttle body, good to do, yes, odds of resolving the error, eh, I'm doubting it. Just my opinion.

Wanna say the code was Po102 mass air flow voltage low. It's only the service engine soon light that comes on and stays on but doesn't flash. Manual says if it stats on but doesn't flash then its emissions related and I've heard the mass air flow sensor is grouped in that category. I've never had the voltage light come on or anything and all the electronics work perfect.

Cel... Check Engine Light

SES... service engine soon.... There one in the same...both mean the same thing...

I'm with Maniac (Jason) Change the MAF..use only AC Delco replacement!

Okay. Plan on putting in either a new MAF sensor or a used one tomorrow. Will let you know how it goes. For the love of Monte Carlo I hope it works.

Well it was the MAF sensor. The car couldn't run more than 53 without stumbling and jumping and it could only do around 50 when going up a hill. It would jump at a stoplight with a slight incline and actually died trying to drive up into my driveway. My dad picked up a MAF sensor from Autozone for $170 and put it in and cleared the code and the car runs fine now and the light hasn't cut back on and I have no issues anymore. Yeah I know everyone on here is big on putting back the AcDelco stock GM sensor but it's like $300 and my dad had already bought the other one and I honesly don't have the extra money to spend on a stock sensor. It's not quite as smooth as the original sensor performed I don't think but then again that may just be me. Seems to run fine now. I could always pick up a junkyard MAF sensor that fits my car but this one seems fine.

It may honestly be a GM sensor. On the box it said original equipment remanufactured. So does that mean its a used stock sensor that has just been fixed up? Or does that still mean it's just an aftermarket knock off?

Normally, Original equipment means just that. Remanufactured does mean it was fixed or Rebuilt. Does it say AC/Delco on it?
