GM OEM Keyless Entry-Receiver replacing
My Keyless Entry-Receiver is acting up. Put fresh batteries in the remotes, neither works unless the car is warm, as in the sun. Keyless doesn't work at night or when it's cold.
I'm assuming it might be a solder or connection issue and I may try to fix it. However if that fails I'll go scout the local junkyard, but if I replace it do I need to somehow reset/reprogram the keyless system?

If you still have the original stereo head unit in your car, it may be possible to reset/reprogram your key fob to accept a new receiver. If not, you will most likely have to take it to a dealership or hire a locksmith.

I had a similar issue and cleaned the contacts under the buttons, the service dept showed me how to open it up and clean them and make it work. So you might want to check that out. I used the alcohol pads that you wipe on to clear the oil and pencil eraser for the contacts. Might be worth checking.
On a side note, you could always find a buddy to help you program it. You can also use someone 2000-2005 Impala - you put your receiver module from your car into his car, he programs it, and put back the receiver module into your car. I did this for my 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix as the stock radio does not program the fobs.
Thanks for the information. I am going to try cleaning the stock unit and resoldering any broken contacts, I did keep my stock radio so if I do get another unit I'll see if I can use it to reprogram the FOBs, hopefully the cheaper cleaning option will work.
