Gas type
If it is a 1966 engine and the heads weren't rebuilt with hardened valves and seats you should run lead substitute additive in the gas.American cars weren't set up for unleaded until 1973 or so.Unleadad gas will destroy the valves over time in engines built before that.

i would imagine that that engine would have been rebuilt @ some point and it would be up to standards, there's not too many originals around now that haven't been redone
yea...there's been alot of work for to the engine...Like i said, aftermarket heads, cams, carb, aftermarket trans and full exhaust. Also has an aftermarket looking radiator fan which all leads me to believe it does even have pistons and rods. I havn't been able to get a good look at the intake manafold or rockers so those may all be done too.
Hi Brandon, please post some pic's of your Awesome Monte & Engine : ) Thanks `Space

104+ was America's first Octane Boost, created in 1975. 30+ years later, with a unique combination of performance-enhancing additives, 104+ is still the best Octane Boost you can buy. 104+ MAXIMUM has DOUBLE the Octane Boost of our Regular Formula.

I'd put higher octane in that, since you've had the work done to the engine anyway, might as well make use of the power.
Search around your area for some race gas and mix it with some 91 or 93... that's what I do with my Monte... there's a station about 20 minutes from my house that has CAM2 (made by Sunoco) 100 octane... I mix some of that in with Mobil 93 at a ratio that gives me an end result of 95/96 octane, and the car LOVES it...
Your profile doesn't show where you live, but you can take a look at this link to see if there's any stations in your state (not all states carry it):
