Default Fuel pump replacement

Shouldn't all 2000-2004 MC's have an access panel in the trunk right behind the seat? My 2001 LS doesn't have one.

You are correct, there is an access in all 2000-2005 Montes for the fuel pump in the trunk. It is under the carpet in the trunk between the spare tire well and the back seat. It's a oval shaped metal cover bolted to the floor of the trunk.

I pulled the carpet out and I can see an oval shaped spot where the panel should be. I'm not sure if this is because this is an LS, but I'm sure it doesn't have one. This should be fun dropping the tank

Does not matter if it is an ls or ss, both packages have the access panel. There will be a series of bolts you need to remove to pull the panel out. It's not a huge panel, maybe 12x6 inches give or take.

Can you post a pic of what you are looking at?

See, there are no bolts. It looks like there should be an access panel...

my 2000 ss has it. It will come in handy when I go to put it on the road. Lots of other issues need fixed first.

Have you lifted all the carpet? I believe the access panel is off center toward the passenger side. That pic looks dead center where the split in the carpet is.
