Fuel Gauge
Hello all! 2001 Monte SS 116,500 miles - fuel gauge is all over the place. I'm thinking it's a sensor. Is the sensor in the tank? If anyone has done, how difficult a job is this? Could it be anything else?
As always, all suggestions are welcomed & apreciated.

RE: Fuel Gauge
I know from experience, and from the nice people on here, that the 2000-2005 Montes do have an issue with the guage clusters. The do have a tendency to go bad.
With me, it was my temp guage. I looked down at it, and it was showing WAY past the highest mark on the guage.
But in your case, it's probably more likely that it's a problem with the sensor in the tank.

RE: Fuel Gauge
My gas gauge did loop-de-loops. Complete 360s. The trip computer told me that everything was working ok. I got a new cluster. Took 2 days. They Fed-Ex them overnight. Dealer has to do it (supposedly).
I just happen to have an extra cluster from an 02. Not really for sale, but then again..... It's from an 02 Intimidator. I would consider selling it WITHOUT the speedometer face. I believe it has about 24,000 miles on it. I believe it takes a Tech II computer to store the odometer info. Not sure.
