Fog Lights ?

I have a 2002 LS model and I was wondering what was up with the fog lights.
There is no swtch to turn them on like owners manual says there should be and they dont turn on VIA the headlights knob.
There are definitely fog lights on the car and I just cant for life of me figure it out.
Has anyone bumped into this oddness before?
Are the "Fog Lights" I am looking at just fillers to make the bumps look better ?

LS models did not come stock with fog lights. Are you sure you actually have fog lights or do is just look like this?

Not only does an LS not have fog lights, it doesn't have any of the wiring or the relay, and even if you install all of the needed components, the BCM (Body Control Module) won't activate the fog lights.

This is actually kind of hit or miss. I'm not sure if it was a specific year or not but some LS models did have the wiring behind the dash and behind the front bumper. That being said, it was still not tuned into the BCM.

No, it is not just plastic fills pieces.
Unless these are fake foglights.

Those are the stock foglights, however it looks like your bumper may have been repainted or something, because the mounting tabs should go on the other side of the bumper.

Are there any wires or pigtails coming from the fog lights?

CROUZERSNAKE 08-13-2014 01:14 PM

Im not a total lost cause when it comes to fixing up a car but I am still new.
"Pigtails" ....Meaning like a wiring harness of some sort ?

I believe you are right about the bumper being re- painted in the past.
I couldn't actually see in behind the bumper so I stuck my phone in there in video mode.
When I played it back I could see the gasket where the wires should be but it looks like some one cut them just behind the lights.
But if the factory fog lights are not controlled by the head light switch and there is no "fog light" button next to it, how did these work in the past ?
Makes sense if someone painted the bumper and just didn't want to hook the lights back up again.

You can see down there from above the headlight, under the hood.

As far as the foglights go, it sounds like they may have been placed there without wiring. They DID NOT come stock on your car. What I'm thinking may have happened is there was an accident and the bumper was replaced with a bumper from an SS car.

Hmmmm SS bumper huh ?
I'll take it ! Haha
Then I guess as long as the lights are good I just need to wire them and install a switch.

I am wondering if those fog lights will look relevent compared to the new lightbulb technology that has been developed since 2002, like LED and what not ?
I will eventually get either new headlights with LED lights or just buy ultra bright white bulbs.
Sylvaniastar ultra white were what I had on my other car and they looked really good.
