fan speed 1 and 2 not working

Default fan speed 1 and 2 not working

i noticed that on my 03 on the way to work tonight...3,4 and 5 perfect just 1 and 2 not at at all on my heater controls fan speed..and ideas?

Most likely the blower motor resistor. You will most likely also need the pigtail that plugs into it because they melt and then cause high resistance at the plug in point on the new resistor.

Can't it also just be a simple vacuum problem?

They don't run on vacuum anymore. Everything is electric.

it's the resistor block. Make sure you get the HD one, that is encased in epoxy. There are some that are not.

where is this resistor block located...by the fuse block?

Where would one find an HD resistor? I was going to pick one up at AutoZone for $30 dollars. They have another that's $40 dollars...?? Or does the one you speak of come from the stealer? Being the mechanic that I am not, I wouldn't know the difference either way.

That's on my list for this week. I can't take my eyeballs drying out of my head, with a heater that only blows on 3-4-5.
