Below is information I found: Check it out until one of our Expert Tech Member's post: *Check back 2 C what they post if below does not help...Good Luck
if you look around the intake youll see a hose with a green cap follow it back to the charcoal canister and while your doing that just check the hoses and the hoses around the canister to make sure there is no holes or cracks in them and then follow the hose from the canister to the gas tank. if every thing looks good then i would replace the purge solenoid.

- first check from the fuel tank to charcoal canister, its just a solid plasic line that goes from the top of the fuel tank(which you wont be able to see without dropping the tank) just check for cracks or unplugged tees or elbows at the canister. 10 to 1 Im betting that the purge solenoid is bad its usually located by the canister or it on the intake with a two wire connector. now another little place you might check is on the intake. you will see another plastic line coming off the intake going to the purge solenoid it will have a green cap (test port for evap system) see if the line just came off the intake . now you can by a pressure gauge and test it there but im pretty sure youll spot the problem before it gets that far

Under your hood, like there is an accessory belt guide image, there should be a simplistic image showing where the EVAP is. Usually it's on the frame near the intake.

Thanks guys.........after getting the evap code I replaced the gas cap which wasn't tightening properly and I thought that would do it, but after disconnecting the battery for 15 minutes the light came on again 3 days later. I'm now gonna inspect the vacuum lines and just replace the purge solonoid and hope that does it.

90% of the time it's the solenoid, which is in the back, which is exposed to the elements.

Well I replaced the purge solonoid, checked all the vacuum lines, replaced the gas cap with a cheapo from Autozone, and after disconneting the battery the check engine light reappeared the next day. Now I'm wondering if this could have something to do with my fuel gauge not working intermittantly??

I would say you probably need to replace the charcoal canister. When they go bad, pieces of charcoal will get sucked into the vacuum lines either clogging the lines or getting stuck in the solenoid. Thats what I was told when I was having the same code come up.
