Default Engine Swapped not starting, worth keeping?

Hello i had an engine swap in my monte carlo because it skipped time and messed up engine. The shop had the hardest time trying to revive car and did the passlock reset procedure multiple times and it still wouldnt work. When the mechanic sprayed gas into the engine it would turn over but any other time with key it would not. I even tried replacing the ignition lock cylinder and its still not working. Does anyone know a solution? My car has been broken down since March and had 3 different mechanics attempt to fix it and nothing worked. Im starting to wonder if its even worth keeping anymore because its been sitting so long without servicing. I was going to service transmission before it broke down and i havent. The last service was in 2015. There are various other maintenance services and repairs that need to be done and its older and i have no idea what kind of engine was put in it so i dont know what to do or if it's worth saving. It is a 2003 ls by the way.

Sorry to hear of your troubles, I know it's frustrating. We really need to know more about your car to help decide whether it's worth persuing. How many miles on the car? What is overall condition? Two years isn't bad between transmission services, 50,000 or so between services is fine. As for the engine swap, you might need to find a better mechanic, preferably one with a GM Tech 2 scan tool capable of analyzing the problem and communicating with PCM and BCM. The problem you've described does seem to be in the theft deterrent system. Is there a security light illuminated in the dash when the key is turned to "on"? The problem could be as simple as calibrating the pcm and bcm to recognize each other. Sometimes it takes multiple 30 minute re-learn attempts before it takes. Could be a wire connector not plugged in tight or connected to the wrong place.
The theft deterrent system prevents starting (disables fuel delivery and ignition) if the code stored in the lock cylinder chip, BCM and PCM do not match. The re-learn should resolve that if everything else is correct. Was the engine installed used? Was the car it came from identical? Was the PCM from the other car used? What happened to the old engine to require replacement?

Hi thanks for replying. It has over 170k miles on it. I would say it's in poor to fair condition because i dont know what type of engine was put in and how long it would last before major repairs set in. It's been nearly 3 years for the. last transmission service. It needs new tires, water comes into the car when it rains, when i drive one of my wheels makes thisbgod awful screaming noise, and possibly some other things i dont know about. My transmission is actually a rebuilt transmission and had a problem with it before almost having to rebuild it again. It was slipping but at the time the transmission was rebuilt and had good fluid in it cause it was done a year or 2 before i bought it. Last i was driving i noticed some hard shifting going on. The security light does come on and the shop did the relearn procedure a million different times and it wouldnt come on. I have no details on the engine that was put in it but my old one skipped time. The shop shouldve detected if something wasnt connected properly. I dont know if i should keep it cause i having trouble getting it started and it's an older vehicle with a possibly older engine. Monte Carlos were only made up to 2007, so if its another monte carlo engine ill probably run into some more problems sooner thsn later and i dont know how much longer the transmission would hold up. What is bcm and pcm?

The BCM (Body Control Module) is the electronic control unit that monitors and controls all of the systems in the car body. Electric windows,A/C functions, electric mirrors, electric locks, security systems, etc. It communicates with all the other modules.

The PCM of a vehicle is the brains behind the power. It is an electric circuit board that operates everything from the car radio and air conditioning to the transmission and fuel delivery. When the PCM (Powertrain Control Module) is not working properly, the vehicle will have problems such as warning lights displaying.

And the PCM (Powertrain Control Module) is the computer that controls the engine.

I sense you leaning toward cutting your losses and sending the car down the road to the junkyard on the back of a flatbed truck. Sadly, IMO that would be the right call. Besides the existing engine problem, lurking transmission problems, tires, wheel squeal is probably a bad wheel hub which combined cost would likely be over $1,500 alone. Add whatever it takes to get it running and whatever else could go bad in car with that many miles (brakes, struts, tune up, battery, radiator, the other hubs, inner tie-rods and an alignment, etc...for another $2000). Who knows what it will cost to get the engine running, and there's no guarantee that'll happen for under $1000. At the end of the day you could spend $5000 to keep it alive. I would move on. You could get a nice car with much lower miles and start fresh for that cost.

Any idea what year the car is? I attached a pic of a White Monte Carlo.

If you open the hood on top of the engine there is a number that may tell you the size. I attached some photo's of the engine bay that may help.

Do you have a sun roof that is letting the water in or possibly it is getting in from the doors. bad weather stripping.

that awful screaming noise, could be Bearings, or brakes or a bad wheel too.

I am just guessing here but it appears you are a Lady who is frustrated with how this all turned out. Possibly the shops keep you guessing because they feel you have no knowledge of the issues?

So if I was to give some advice I would put it up for sale.
Then find a nice dependable ride.
