ok guys time to put on those thinking caps. i have an 87 pontiac trans am w/ a 350 in it and am looking to put it in my newly acquired 86 monte carlo ls which has a 262. is it possible, and if so what do i need to do/know?

any feedback would be great. thanks guys

i think that all you will have to do is change the motor i dont remember if 262 is chevy or oldmobile ? if it is olds you will have to change the motor mounts and you probley are gonna changer the trans as well its pribly a 200c not to good for power so go with the engine and trans out of the donner car

 

Definately use use the 350. That will be a quick Monte then!

 

You might have to re-route the battery cable to the starter. I'm not sure but I think the starter is on the opposite side for the Pontiac engine. Definitely get rid of the stock trans if you had a 4.3 V6 in the car. It will not hold up to the V8.
