When it was running was it having problems accelerating? If it was check your cat, i had my cat plug on me and it did the same thing, i was on my way home from work and the car kinda just shut off. It would crank but not start, i had to give it a fair amount of gas to get it over and running.

it wasnt overheating at all. i was doing like 60 mph and there wasnt any sign except when i tried to go faster the engine was off. no check engine light at all. kinda weird. im thinking its probably crank position sensor, or cam sensor, or ignition module. im not getting spark. im getting fuel and air so im leaning towards ignition module.

Yea it could be an ignition coil, which is an easy fix.

The problem is, without a code, its hard to really tell for sure with problems like this.

I've had a crank position sensor, and ignition coil go out on a 3.8L...

Did you say you ARE getting fuel? If you're not sure if you are, I would check the relay/fuse for your fuel pump. I know when I changed my fuel filter, I pulled the fuse out while it was running (to get the pressure out) and it kiilled the engine pretty quick.
