Default Engine Mount Question (or 2)

Say, how many engine/tranny mounts do we have on the 6th Gen M.C. (3800)?

How do you check a transmission mount? I would love details here.

Well, after changing the tranny mount I can tell you there there is a tranny mount behind the splash shield behind the drivers side wheel, a motor mount behind the splash shield of the passenger side wheel, and the two top dog bone mounts. 15mm for all nuts and bolts.

Yeah sounds exactly the same as the 97. When I bought mine it had a bad mount on the passenger side. Oil leaking on it caused the rubber to degrade and the car made a clunk when it went into drive. Pretty simple to change them and cheap too. 50 bucks and 30 minutes later with a total of about 7 bolts.

For future reference. When I changed mine I undid the 2 top mounts and undid the bolts on the mount I was changing. Once I had it all loose I put a chunk of wood on a jack and just jacked the motor carefully from the oil pan. Not suggested but it worked for me. I jacked it up just enough to get the old mount out and the new one in then let it back down gently and bolted it all back up and I was done.

That's how I did the tranny mount except I didn't undo the dog bones. I wanted a fail safe in case the engine did slip, even if it is just a couple supports.

I have the parts. I might as well do the engine mount and check the cradle bolts as well.

The noise is significantly less with the new transmission mount but still there.
