Default Engine air filter lifespan on 06-07? Fram good?

How often do folks change their engine air filter? Anyone have a favorite brand they can recommend? Fram are good right? I thought I might replace the GM filter. Is the stock GM a good one?

I check my air filters every spring. Replace as it is dirty.

I bought a GM for my 01 last weekend and oil filter. The price was not too far off from Autozone but the dealer wanted $49 for a trans gasket and $52 for a Transfilter needless to say I bought the trans kit from Autozone...

GM recommends replacing the air filter every 12 months or 12,000 miles whichever comes first, but I used to check my OE filters about every six months. I don't care much for Fram filters. I have used AC Delco, Wix or K&N filters in the past and been happy with them.
