Either aftermarket cat is most likely going to throw a code on you. They just aren't built as well as the stock cat.

Throw on whatever cat you want, you will most likely still need a tune on that car.

 

Alright so lets say I thrown on the Hiflow cat with the 02 Bung hook it up... where would I get the tune done as well, wouldn't the tune just shut off the code. If it just shuts the code off during the OBD test it rests or detects shut code doesn't it?

 

The PCM doesn't look for it, so it doesn't display "NOT READY" so you pass.

The tests only look for the NOT READY code and see if it has to do with emissions.

I was actually looking into this as we speak... so technically no matter what Cat I used if I got the PCM tune I could technically cheat the NOT READY... if it were there?

 

That's exactly it. You could even pass without a cat with a tune, as long as they don't do a visual test (but they probably do one of those)

Oh my... I'm losing my mind trying to get my mom to understand how to get my car to pass. I've just decided that I will be installing the 3" Pypes hiflow and order the PCM from Overkill just need to wait for Will to e-mail me back.

Just venting now but... My mom thinks that I'm going to have to scrap my entire car because she thinks I won't get my car to pass e-test. And thinks she will have to pay for a new car since I'm not done my payments on this one yet... LOSING MY MIND... it's soo simple... I'm counting on my buddy at the Mandrel shop to walk her through it.

 

Most people get bullied by the testers, your mom just doesn't understand how the technology of these cars work.

 

I know . My mom wants the car on the road by Feb. 1st. I'm telling her to just get the cat welded I'll order the PCM to the house when I get home on the 29th/ 30 I'll install it and voila!

It's easy to Install the PCM right?

 

Installing a PCM can be easy if you have an aftermarket intake.

For your car though, you will probably have to go to a dealer after the install of the PCM to get the crank sensor relearned
