Question electrical question

Hello all. I have a 99 z34. Has been a good car yet there is a problem I cant resolve.I need to replace the multi function switch. This isnt my problem.During rain the brake lights quit working but the 3rd light works. After the rain stops and roads are dry the brake lights work fine.I had taken the car for an oil change and asked the guy at the shop if he had heard of this before,he said some kind of box under the car is leaking, pricey to fix but didnt explain what "box". Anybody have thoughts on what he was smoking or what the fix is?Also when the lights go out the brakes are affected too, like the ABS isnt working.A definate difference in the pedal and stopping power.I appreciate any suggestions or comments.

Default brake light gremlin

After researching deeper I may have found out what "box" the guy was talking about. The BCM. Body Control Module. Boy are they pricey! Where would the BCM be located? 99 Z34 Thanks again. Muley

Sounds way more like an ignition switch to me. It may have been shorted out by the multi function switch. Open up the column and look for melted wires and inside the connectors for burnt pins and anything out of place. I've been wrenching for 13 years and it sounds like what I would look at first personally.
