HELP !!! This random misfire code is comming from cylinder 5, after 20 minutes of runing had 510000 misfires. Idle is hgh, Solus scanner showing at 1000 rpm and fluctuates higher. Idle is also rough, MIL light flashes more than not flashing. Swapped a coil out and misfire stayed with #5 Cylinder. Don't realy know how to use my solus, should have bought a snow machine Any help with this issue would make me a very happy man. Oh ya, knock sensor volts fluctuate at about 2.8-3.5v at 2500 rpm. No knock retard happening. 1996 3.4L

Make sure your spark plug wires are correctly installed. You may need new wires, and/or spark plugs.

 

x2, I would swap out a plug / wire and see if the mis-fire is still on cylinder 5 or if it moved. Usually that's checked before the coil pack.

 

Ya, thanks guys. Put in all new spart plugs while I had the Plenum off, performed a resistance test on wires and looked good. Did not change them out, wishing now that i had as a precautionary measure. Hoping to do all eliminating processes before having to remove plenum. Any other things to look for, my scanner has mentioned scoping the engine, for secondary ignition issues. Problem is I have no idea how to do that. Thanks,
