Default Don't know where to start.

I have a 2000 Monte SS with a shade under 200k miles. I absolutely love this car. Recently the old gal has been acting up. GM made the gauges do that silly calibration thing where there max out, return to 0, then move to their respective positions. Recently, and they have gone one by one, some them don't complete the 3rd step. The RPM gauge, fuel gauge, and voltage gauge stay at zero. About a minute or so later the dash makes that shaker sound it makes during the calibration and they return to normal. This was not a real huge issue until today. The car died while I was driving it 3 times and I LOST ALL POWER. Couldnt use my hazards or anything at all. When I came to a stop, put it in park, and pulled the key out it eventually made the calibration sound in the dash and power was restored. I'm not sure if I'm dealing with an ignition switch problem or a grounding issue. Please for the love of God help before I start burning money to figure it out!!!

it sounds like a ignition switch issue, i just recently learned myself that the switch can make the car do the most random things

I agree with owens. It's the ignition switch. This problem is becoming very common as our cars age.
