Here's a post from member White05LT explaining how to do this:
Option B would be to get a kit to disable them. You can get it from BBEngineer: http://www.bbengineer.com/cars/impala/store.htm
I tried this mod today and it worked. This solved the Daytime Running Lights problem on my 2005 LT. HOWEVER, it did not removed the "Auto On" Headlights function for nighttime driving. To remove the Auto On function the photo sensor has to be somewhere where there is constant illumination, so it tells the computer its always daytime. Heres the article.
2005 Chevrolet Impala. Simply pull the DRL relay out of the fuse block under the hood and bend over pin 87. Why this works: Pins 87 and 30 are the two pins that are connected together when the relay is energized. Bending 87 over will still let the relay energize but since the pin is bent over, the DRL's don't come on. As long as the computer senses the resistance of the relay coil between the two trigger pins (85 and 86) it thinks all is OK and doesn't set any codes. If you bend over either of the trigger pins like suggested for other vehicles, the computer will display "Service Vehicle Soon" in the info center.
Note: probably works for other model years and for Monte Carlo too.

How to disable your daytime running lights:
Step 1: Sell your 2001 Monte and buy either a 2006 or 2007 Monte.
Step 2: After you've started the engine and the DRLs have come on, turn the headlight **** all the way to the left to turn off the lights. :P
Seriously, though, I didn't know that you couldn't turn off your daytime running lights on the 2000-05 Montes. It's very easy to do on the '06-07 Montes, as I indicated above, and I do it frequently on my car.

cover the sensor on top of the dash. I bought a sheet of black self stick felt paper at hobby lobby. cost $1.00. cut a small piece and stick over sensor. now the car will think it is nightime and turn headlights on full power. after you start the car wait about 5 seconds and pull headlight **** out to first detent and headlights will go off and parking lights will be on. no drl no headlights. you just have to get in the habit of pulling the **** out every time.

My relay has a 87 pin and a 87a pin. Which is the one to bend? The small diagram on the relay has the 87 connected to the 30. So I assume from the previous post from above that I would bent the 87 not the 87a. Just want to besure before I start bending and possibly breaking the posts.
